IPLOM is a Northern Italian refinery characterized by flexible operations. The PI System and Sigmafine were implemented in order to achieve refinery reconciled yields. The reconciliation model, consisting of over 40 layers in order to compose dynamically all the possible plant configurations, runs hourly balances on the plants according to actual refinery operation mode. Layers are automatically switched on or off based on the production plan. PI ProcessBook is used in control and management rooms, as a monitor of the operation to compare actual, reconciled, planned, and theoretical yields. IPLOM improved their operation, for example increasing the diesel yield by 1%.
