Electric Vehicles (EVs) represent a growing challenge to the electric grid operators and utilities. The large, concentrated, electrical loads (both in time and location) place strain on the local, and soon, on the state-wide electricity distribution. This presentation will discuss how one of the newest PI System users, EMotorWerks, is using OSIsoft's new SaaS-based PI System architecture to change EV Charging from a challenge into an opportunity. Using distributed networks of their best-in-class residential Level 2 EV Charging systems, EMotorWerks is increasing the utility of the Electric Vehicles while providing valuable services to the grid operators and utilities, improving grid stability, and enabling growth of renewable generation.
