PI Coresight was renamed PI Vision in 2017
Marathon Oil has been using “cool” new OSIsoft products like PI AF and PI Coresight on high Return on Investment (ROI) projects throughout the US. This presentation will feature traditional Production Operations well monitoring in the Piceance Asset Team in Grand Junction, Colorado, and a recent innovative Proof of Concept utilizing PI Coresight in the drilling line of business in our EagleFord Asset south of San Antonio. The Production Operations project in the Piceance Asset utilizes PI WebParts, Coresight, and Coresight for iPad to replace graphics from the Wonderware SCADA system, due to ease of use. The drilling Proof of Concept uses PI Coresight to find sub-surface problems with “stick slip” that were previously undetectable, and this project when implemented across the US is projected to have very large returns on minimal investment.

Ken Startz
Ken Startz is currently a Project Manager for Marathon Oil Corporation, Upstream Client Services, located in the Houston Corporate office. Ken has 34 years of experience with Marathon, in Upstream, Corporate, and Downstream support. Ken has worked for Marathon in 4 countries, including Gabon, Ireland, Egypt, and Equatorial Guinea. Ken’s 1st experience with PI systems was in 1988 in the Robinson, IL Refinery, working with LIMS system interfaces. Most recent projects involve sub-sea data acquisition in the Gulf of Mexico, and land-based drilling projects. He holds a BS in Systems Analysis from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
