Veolia Eau D’Ile de France manages water production and distribution for the Greater Paris water authority, Syndicat des Eaux d'Ile-de-France. For SEDIF and Veolia to be the largest water utility in France and one of the best in Europe is a great responsibility. In an extremely competitive industry, it must operate safely and reliably with a high degree of efficiency. It has not only used the PI System to build a BIG DATA solution for its water service, but it also intends to design the next generation for a smart water utility. Today they use the PI System to monitor and control energy consumption, develop new ways to find leaks, optimize resources, and schedule real-time operation for each plant as well as each team. They also are able to follow marginal costs and develop mechanisms to ensure water traceability in more than 8,000 km of pipeline. They were able to achieve these goals by using the PI System and the flexibility of this technology allows them to always move forward.
