The objective of the Process Engineer is to improve production throughput and tighten operations while maintaining or enhancing process quality and repeatability. To accomplish this, they must first measure the process characteristics in the appropriate asset and product contexts. Only then can statistical techniques be applied to measure process repeatability as compared to specifications or targets. The Process Engineer must then see that appropriate personnel are notified of process anomalies that could impact quality, repeatability or throughput and then provide them with appropriate tools to remedy the same.
This presentation will discuss how a Process Engineer can use the PI System to easily answer a set of questions that will help the plant increase Process Stability (reduced amount of variation) and Process Capability (reduced amount of spread around target).
