Using the PI System to Develop the Data Infrastructure for a Microgrid
The PI System (including PI AF and PI Notifications) is a common infrastructure which provides easy installation and maintenance. Data collection and information exchange based on the PI System allows real-time data and information anytime, anywhere without compromising security, privacy, or compliance. Our PI System implementation includes redundant PI Servers and PI Interfaces which provides allows adding software patches without loss of data or control functionality. Data will be collected by Distribution Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) which are installed at critical locations of IIT campus and will be analyzed using the PI System. The Cybersecurity Synchrophasor Platform (CSSP) will be used. Primary benefits of this project will be establishing a testbed to improved service reliability to all potential Microgrid consumers by using the PI System as their co-ordination infrastructure.
