For years California ISO used the PI Universal Data Server to measure the quantity of electricity produced by California generators. Now, thanks to the latest innovations of PI, the ISO can now measure the quality of electricity produced by California generators. Over the past 6 months the ISO has developed tools, using PI ACE, to measure quality from data collected in the PI Universal Data Server. The ISO’s tools calculate the expected generation, unit deviation, and unit performance statistics. The tools were implemented to calculate results even when servers fail. Our presentation will focus on the PI ACE implementation and calculation strategy.

Craig is the current PI System Administrator at the California Independent System Operator. He has managed and coordinated successful corporate database growth in three different industries during the past 5 years. He has worked in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical and electric transmission/generation industries. Mr. Taylor holds both a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration from the University of California at Davis.
