Presentation: Using PI ACE & PI MDB in Applications for Hydro Energy Production

The presentation discusses the next generation of Distributed Energy Resources (a.k.a. Distributed Generation) at DTE as part of a Department of Energy initiative. Relevant issues to be discussed are: the use of PI to issue control to remote DER operators; the use of PI as a real-time data feed/repository for the load flow calculation engine for the DTE distribution network; the use of PI to track model changes in order to allow regression analysis; the use of PI to repudiate network reaction to operator actions; and the use of PI/ACE to aggregate DER generation and expose to a trading system via ICE and Web Services.
