Starting in late 2011 and continuing through early 2013, a cross functional team from Janssen R&D, commercial supply chain and IT worked on a data warehousing project. As part of the first phase, the project focused on integrating data from ERP, Event Tracking System, LIMS and Master Data Management systems into a data warehouse that was designed and developed using S88/S95 recipe standards. The project used a traditional data warehousing tool to move data from multiple source systems into a common recipe based data warehouse.
This presentation discusses the second phase of the project, which used the PI System to help with data aggregation strategies of the data warehousing. The fact that the PI System currently exists in many Johnson & Johnson sites and that its core strength is the ability to capture data from multiple source systems makes the PI System a logical strategic choice for such an operation. After reviewing the challenging environment of data aggregation, the presentation describes how J&J leveraged the PI System to solve a key component of the project and the value generated for J&J scientists and engineers.
