Over the last decade, PJM Interconnection has been developing their GIS to complement many aspects of their business. Starting with the System Planning division, the GIS and supporting applications incorporate functionality vital to planning at PJM. With the integration of the OSIsoft PI System, the GIS has been used effectively in operations at PJM. One of these applications, the Dispatch Interactive Map Application (DIMA), was developed specifically to enhance operator situational awareness. Last year, PJM demonstrated real-time transmission line status, weather data and demand response on a single geographic map. It was implemented this using Esri ArcGIS and OSIsoft PI System integration. This presentation will show you how it has improved the user interface and incorporated additional data about substations and generators. This talk will also discuss future capabilities and provide an overview of the technical design and integration.
