Facility owners and operators have access to an enormous amount of data but they often struggle to effectively manage and utilize that data. Data may originate from installed instrumentation, laboratory samples, or manual readings taken in the field. What’s often missing are the data architecture and data analytics components that turn the abundance of data into actionable intelligence. Data infrastructure includes a means to collect information from multiple sources and store data in a way that enables easy access through displays plus provides the ability to share data with analytics programs and other software as needed. Advanced analytics solutions use software and applications to learn the behavior of equipment and the underlying process to provide an indication about the state of the facility and provide an early warning of developing problems within a particular piece of equipment or within the process itself.
Incorporating a robust data infrastructure solution with advanced data analytics helps to focus maintenance efforts in the right areas by bringing potential issues to the forefront sooner. Tactical and strategic decisions are both improved when users are provided access to accurate information regarding equipment and facility output, efficiency and reliability. This presentation will describe the elements of a modern data infrastructure and advanced analytics.
