Updates from DCP and Equitrans(EQT) Midstream since PI World 2018
This Presentation will overview the key updates at DCP Midstream and Equitrans Midstream since the last presentation at PI World 2018. The focus will be on high impact uses of their PI Systems in the areas of:
- Advanced analytics
- Geospatial dashboards
- Power PI and Spotfire Advanced Dashboarding
- Operational Intelligence
DCP Midstream: This Presentation will overview the key updates since the last presentation at PI World 2018. The aras of focus will be our progress in the areas of advanced analytics, eSRI, Advanced Dashboarding, mobility, and gas/frac plant financial based optimizaiton.
Equitrans Midstream: This presentation will provide an update on our use of the PI System at Equitrans (formerly EQT Midstream) since our last presentation at PI World 2018. We will focus on advanced uses of PI AF and PI Vision in the areas of analytics, visualization, mobility, and integration.

Oscar Smith
Oscar Smith, Senior Principal Engineer at Equitrans Midstream Corporation, 3rd largest natural gas gatherer of natural gas in the United States, has 40 years of experience in all phases of the natural gas industry. He began his career in 1979 in Detroit, MI, with ANR Pipeline (now a subsidiary of TransCanada Pipeline Co). Since 1979, Smith has worked for numerous other Natural Gas Pipeline Companies and Consulting firms and in 2007 he returned back to Pittsburgh, PA, to join, at that time EQT Corporation, now Equitrans Midstream . He received his MBA from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2002 and is a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Smith started working with OSISOFT in 2015 and is the digital transformation program coordinator for Equitrans Midstream. The program is transforming and significantly improving Equitrans Midstream’s ability to effectively predict, anticipate and optimize it’s pipeline and facility operation.

Nicholas Galizia
Nick Galizia, Senior Engineer at Equitrans Midstream Corporation, 3rd largest natural gas gatherer in the United states, has extensive experience in data analytics and process improvement. Prior to his role supporting the Operational Intelligence System, Nick led several departments including Business Planning, Analytics, Operations Support and Process Improvement. Nick joined EQT and the energy industry in 2008 after 15 years of manufacturing experience with Alcoa and Almatis (Alumina Chemicals) serving in various engineering and management functions.
A Pittsburgh native, Nick obtained his BS in Chemical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994 and completed his MBA at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004. He is a board member of Reading is FUNdamental, Pittsburgh and has been working extensively with Equitran’s OSISOFT system for the last 6 months.

Matthew Whiteman
Matthew Whiteman, Lead SCADA Specialist at Equitrans Midstream Corporation, 3rd largest natural gas gatherer in the United States, with over 7 years’ experience in various SCADA Systems for Oil and Natural Gas. I have been exclusively with Equitrans Midstream formerly EQT working on a variety of SCADA systems from Telvent, Cygnet, Synergie Pipeline Simulator and Autosol. Matthew has a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Whiteman began working in OSIsoft PI back in 2015 around the completion of the pilot program and have since been the lead System Administrator in all things PI at Equitrans Midstream. Matthew’s utopia goal for PI is to help facilitate a paradigm shift from a reactive to a more predictive and pro – active approach centered around sound data and analytics driving facility operations.
