University-Industry Collaboration: Key Findings and Perspectives on Success
Arno Meerman, CEO of University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN), Cameron McCoy, AVP Office of Economic Engagement at Lehigh University, and John Matranga, Director of Customer Innovation and Academia at OSIsoft present on the topic of University-Industry collaboration and how this environment is changing, followed by a mini-panel session. The presentation covers key findings on the state of collaboration within Europe, as well as guidance on best practices for how to increase the amount and value of collaboration by bringing stakeholders together. We hear about one university’s successful approach, as well as a case study on their collaboration with OSIsoft. The final part is a mini-panel session where we invite members of the audience to pose question for discussion to our presenters.

John Matranga
John Matranga is Director of Customer Innovation and Academia at OSIsoft. Responsible for global STEM education program at OSIsoft, John enables academic institutions to leverage PI System software and OSIsoft resources for education and research use. John started with OSIsoft in 1990 and has extensive expertise in technology vision, adoption, and services. Focused on sensor based
data for the past 30 years, his work has spanned the areas of software architecture, design,
development and delivery for commercial software offerings in Cyber Physical Systems. John lives in
the San Francisco bay area with his wife and three children. Previous to OSIsoft, John was part of the
IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.

Arno Meerman
Arno Meerman is co-founder and CEO of the University Industry Innovation Network. In his role, he oversees UIIN's events, publications and research and consulting activities. His research focusses on university-business cooperation and university engagement. Arno was a project manager and researcher on several European and national large-scale research projects. Since January 2016, Arno is the responsible project manager of European Commission project on the State of University-Business Cooperation in Europe study, the largest study yet undertaken in this field. Arno is also the Director for Business Development at the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre, a research centre at the Münster University of Applied Sciences.

Cameron McCoy
Cameron McCoy is the AVP for Economic Engagement at Lehigh University. He is responsible for developing and executing an integrated strategic plan for the Lehigh University’s economic engagement functions, including Industry Relations, Foundation Engagement, Career Services, Federal Agency – Industry – Lehigh relations, Research Park Development assessment, and some elements of Technology Transfer and Economic Development. Prior to joining Lehigh in June of 2014, he served as the Executive Director of the Corporate Engagement Office (CEO) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) where he was responsible for the award winning University Research Campus (URC); supporting, coordinating, and integrating Research Enterprise activities with industry; simplifying external access to OU resources to maximize the impact of OU capabilities; expanding the engagement pipeline (current and new relationships) via targeted solutions; and growing external relationships with Oklahoma economic development organizations. Mr. McCoy holds undergraduate degrees from Washington State University in Architectural Studies, History, and Social Studies, with minors in Military Science and Leadership Studies. He is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, holding a Masters Degree in Leadership and he will complete his Ph.D. with focus on economics and educational administration in 2016. Mr. McCoy also served eleven years in the US Army as an Officer in Military Intelligence and Infantry.
