United Utilities (UU) provide water and wastewater services to more than seven million customers in North West England. There is increasing pressure from regulators and customers alike to provide these services in the most efficient and effective way. UU are meeting this challenge by the increased adoption of real-time monitoring and data analytics to proactively manage operational performance.
At UU, the PI System plays an important role in operational performance management. Several instances of the PI System have been implemented at UU including Performance Dashboards, Event Recognition and Production Planning. This presentation will explain the business challenges, solutions and results of these instances, in particular the Production Planning system. It will also provide an overview of how the PI System fits in with other Operational Systems and the future direction for real-time operational performance management at UU.
