Uniper, a fully owned subsidiary of E.ON, is a significant provider of heat and electricity to the Benelux region. In recent years, the market has moved from monthly validation to hourly validation. To adjust to these changes, Uniper has had to revamp its business model and adopt processes such as multiple measurements to increase meter redundancy and fiscal measurement validation. As a result, Uniper also needed to dramatically improve data quality and accelerate access to data to confirm daily purchase and selling measurements.
The new solution needed to provide fast and reliable meter-quality KPIs as well as site-wide KPIs for the Engineering and Commercial Team so they could meet their goals on an hourly basis. Increasing the rate of work using the traditional validation method would have led to an increase in payment and billing errors. Uniper relies on PI System's Asset Framework to structure the data, Notifications to automate alerts associated with measurements and units which are operating outside their tolerance and Sigmafine software to automatically provide the quality index related to each fiscal measurement thus providing a compliant way to work in the new heat and electricity market.
