Chevron is one of the world's largest energy producers and San Joaquin Valley (SJV) is part of Chevron North America Exploration & Production Company. In 2009, the Company started a global effort to unify the process data platform. The PI System was selected as the platform of choice. Since then, SJV has addressed multiple challenges including organizational and skill set challenges. Today, SJV is firmly footed in the PI System, and it is already starting to provide them with targeted benefits. However there is a lot further to go. This is the story of SJV’s journey to the present day.

Nilotpal (Neel) Chakraborty is an Automation Engineering Supervisor in Chevron San Joaquin Valley Business Unit. Neel has nearly 30 years of experience in multiple industries and in multiple functionalities. Starting as a process engineer, Neel has experience in industrial engineering, traditional IT and now in instrumentation & controls. In the process, Neel has moved across 3 continents, multiple companies and industries. Neel got his first training in the PI System in 2009 and has since been directly and indirectly associated with PI System related activities in Chevron SJV as well as other parts of the company. Neel was instrumental in initiating a standard process within Chevron for data rationalization and meta-data capture, called Information Objective Analysis. As part of his current role, Neel and his team continue to provide new solutions to SJV with the PI System infrastructure.
