UC Davis has an aggressive goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025 and has progressed steadily toward this goal. The campus received about 90% of its electricity supply from renewable or carbon-neutral sources in 2019. The campus is also continuing energy efficiency programs that have saved the campus over $13M since 2009 and resulted in a 54% reduction in energy use intensity since 2001.
UC Davis has used the PI System since 2006. Early progress toward the carbon neutrality goal revolved around investments in renewable energy and large building and plant retrofits based on known opportunities. Over the last several years, the OSIsoft PI System has increasingly become an integral component in the path to achieving our sustainability goals. The PI System allows the whole UC Davis community to progress learning and research outcomes without added strain on the campus operations teams who stay focused on our mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
