Classic performance testing used to mean dedicated standalone instruments, a dedicated data logger and offline analysis. Now performance testing is done online using plant instrumentation, with models running only when the equipment is above a certain minimum threshold. Asset Framework makes it possible to create one template for doing multiple units, while using validated plant instruments. CPS Energy has started the process of “re-creating” a performance testing program, shifting from the classic performance testing model to a new AF – based model. The first pieces of the puzzle are HP and IP Turbine efficiency calculations, and pump performance calculations.
