Transforming the Data Culture by Optimizing the PI System at EDF-Renewable Energy
As a renewable energy company, the past decade has seen dramatic changes in scope and priorities at EDF-RE. One of these changes involved a renewed interest in the power of data. The PI System has been utilized since the company's conception, but the system architecture had deviated from OSIsoft's best-practices. Due to unreliable delivery, PI System data was questioned and then ignored. A two-year project was initiated to redesign the system from the ground up, as well as update and implement the recent advances in the PI System product line. This presentation details the steps taken in this project, a project revolutionize the role PI System plays at EDF-RE by achieving high data fidelity, global accessibility, and a steadfast reliability.

David Meyers
David Meyers has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from New Mexico Tech. Meyers spent the next five years in the metallurgical and mineral processing industry in New Mexico and Wyoming as a project and process engineer. During this time he was exposed to the PI System and decided to make it his career. Meyers now works in renewable energy in California.

Jason Nunez
Jason Nunez is an Operational Data Infrastructure administrator at EDF-Renewable Energy. Including his former role with Nextera Energy, Nunez has spent the latter half of his career managing and optimizing the PI System for two of the three largest companies in North American Renewable Energy. Nunez started out doing 4 years hard time as a productive member of OSIsoft's legendary Tech Support Team. Nunez holds a B.A. in Mathematics and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
