Transform Your Static Reporting Spreadsheets into Business Analytic Engines
Mills use Excel spreadsheets for periodic reporting (shift, day, month) as well as for troubleshooting. Many of these spreadsheets target the reporting time and are therefore only correct once per day. This talk discusses various options from migrating through the OSIsoft software stack toward business analytics tools to change static reports into opportunity generating tools available throughout the day/month. The talk walks through steps-wise options to migrate the spreadsheets to business analytic tools and how to determine if each step is sufficient for the report at hand.

Rick Smith is a Chemical Engineer with 35 years of paper industry experience. His career has always been focused around process control, process data and mill information systems. His focus has long been to get the data to the decision makers to improve product quality and company profitability. Rick has worked with the PI system since the ‘90’s and spend a lot of time in the past five years educating new hires on methods for retrieving process data to solve day-to-day problems.
