Power BI for Office 365, a cloud-based business intelligence service that gives people a powerful new way to work with data in the tools they use every day, Excel and Office 365. With Excel you can now discover, analyze, and visualize data like never before to find valuable business insights. With Power BI for Office 365 customers can easily deploy a cloud-based BI environment where people can share insights, collaborate and access reports, from anywhere. This session will focus on seeing Power BI for Office 365 in action. Through a variety of data exploration and visualization examples we’ll see how Microsoft’s new BI solution enables more users to experience insights as well as creating balance between self-service BI and IT operations—which is a key accelerant for adoption. With Power BI for Office 365, data from Windows Azure, Office, and on-premises data sources like OSIsoft PI comes together in modern, accessible BI experiences.

Patrick Baumgartner
Patrick is the Group Designer for Microsoft Power BI for Office 365. He is responsible for design and experiences within Power BI including a focus on the development of new BI experiences for touch and natural language. As the foundation of Microsoft’s new self-service BI experiences, Power BI for Office 365 provides all users the ability to discover, visualize, and collaborate around data within familiar Excel and Office 365 interfaces.
Patrick has been working on business intelligence product offerings inside of Microsoft since joining in 2004. He has served in both program management and design roles within product groups across Microsoft. He has been a founding member of several V1 business intelligence product offerings at Microsoft with the most recent being the ideation, development and offering of Power BI Q&A. He is a graduate of Washington State University with a B.S. in Computer Sci. Before joining Microsoft he worked as a developer for Sandia National Labs.
