David Thomason
At OSIsoft, David Thomason has global business development responsibilities for the Power Generation vertical. David has 29 years of experience in applying information technology to the requirements of the electrical utility and power generation industry. David is an active advocate for the use of advanced analytics and technologies to enhance business value. Having both IT and business backgrounds, he has focused on turning data into actionable information as it applies to operations and predictive / proactive maintenance processes. Previously senior manager at GenOn Energy and predecessor companies (RRI, Reliant Energy, and H.L. & P.), David’s responsibilities included managing the company’s multi market Energy Management System, Plant Data and Analytic Systems, Custom Software Development¸ and SAP Work & Materials management. The company’s 26.4K MW fleet of assets included coal, gas & oil boiler, gas turbine, combined cycle gas turbine and circulating fluidized bed plants. In David’s current role at OSIsoft, he meets and consults with leading Power Companies around the globe on how the PI System’s real-time infrastructure for streaming data and events can add business value to their organizations. He speaks at industry events advocating and advancing the use of information and technology for practical and leading edge solutions.
