OSIsoft, in 2010 claimed real-time data and events are the currency of this decade. It is clear, just two years into this decade, that data is becoming a way of life for businesses, organizations and governments all around the globe. Of course, it is not just real-time data and events—it is all the data we have such great access today: manufacturing, operational, business, web and social data. This data tells us lots—from the health of an asset to consumer’s thoughts on a new product. The term “Big Data” has been coined to describe the massive volume of data which comes at us very fast and in many forms. There is power in all this data—the power of data is realized through tools to visualize and analyze. Ultimately allowing you to discover new insights and drive decisions.
