Dynegy’s PI System has grown to become an indispensable tool at Dynegy’s Roseton and Danskammer plants. Originally used by Performance Engineers, the PI System has been adapted by all aspects of plant management and operations. It is now used continuously by operations, and spans from the Control Room to the Vice President’s desk. The PI System provides real-time system information and gives management the ability to see results as soon as changes are made. New uses have been for system tuning curve development. These results have been achieved with very simple spreadsheets and PI ProcessBook displays, requiring little programming. As the Unit’s dispatch has changed, the PI System has allowed Dynegy to identify long term trends to capitalize on opportunistic maintenance.
