Veedims takes vehicle automation to a new level of simplicity and capability by leveraging the PI System for monitoring and analytics. Customers and fleet operators love the control, the intuitive user experience, and the analytics provided by the PI System and Vfleet to increase reliability and safety.
Vessels and automation components auto-configure themselves when they connect and register in the system with unique identifiers that replicate data from on-board vessel to a remote fleet-wide monitoring system. This architecture also allows us to roll out a production line of vehicles with little manual effort, saving on significant skilled and expensive labor.
Trip records for the referenced vehicle and related analytics—such as mpg, fuel used etc.—are calculated in real-time with alerts sent to owners notifying them of safety issues, engine problems and low fluid levels. Owners and captains can view data remotely from mobile computing devices like iPads and cell phones.
Presentation focuses on PI System capabilities used to deliver this state-of-the-art vehicle monitoring solution.

Tony Fenn has 25 years of experience in manufacturing automation and is an expert in Data Historians. He has worked as an Automation Manager in Industry for 10 years and with OSIsoft and the PI System real-time data infrastructure for a further 10 years. He has worked on PI System projects for OSIsoft's major customers such as Biogen, Baxter, Merck, Wyeth, IBM, Chinet Paper, Immunex and Pfizer. Fenn has designed and implemented specialized software projects in the areas of reporting and manufacturing optimization using the PI System. His technical skills include installation of servers, interfaces, client tools, web parts, reporting products, and developing custom data applications using API and SDK programming. For four years prior to joining Veedims, Fenn was a Principal Engineer for Bristol Myers Squibb and was responsible for architecting the reporting and data analysis portion of BMS's $19M process automation and manufacturing execution system project for their $800M green-field biologics facility. Fenn was tasked specifically to meet Paperless Manufacturing with Exception Reporting goals using an integrated combination of business systems (OSIsoft PI System, SAP, Lab Information Systems, MAXIMO Maintenance). Fenn holds a graduate MS degree in Industrial Robotics and a undergraduate degree in Manufacturing Technology from the Cranfield Institute of Technology Robotics and Automation Group, England.
