Devon Energy has been an EA customer since 2012 and has continually expanded the use of the PI System in supporting IIOT, advanced analytics, and big data initiatives. Rick will discuss perspectives on best practices and lessons learned in the use of the PI System gained from Devon Energy's EA journey. One of game changers for Devon has been the ability to implement self-serve Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities to the various groups by leveraging the PI Integrators for Business Analytics. The key enabler for this transformative capability is the implementation of PI AF as an “OT Chart of Accounts” that aggregates, normalize (via data references and abstraction), and provides smart asset data objects (templates) enabling the ability to rationalize and distribute analytics using PI AF for real-time analytics and inputs to higher level analytics. He will conclude with comments on what he sees in the future in the area of IIOT, advanced analytics, and big data.
