Antonio Buendia
As Head of Manufacturing Process Control of NOVARTIS, Mr. Antonio Buendia is responsible for setting the technology direction for the Pharma Division (ca. 25 sites, including Pharma, Chemical and Bio) in terms of automation. Previously, Mr. Buendia worked for Elli Lilly in Madrid, where he shaped site automation strategy and subsequent implementation to drive productivity and quality. He has 20 years’ experience in project management, facilities master planning, solid dosage, liquid dosage, R&D labs, and qualification of facilities, utilities and equipment. This wide experience in Engineering, working closely with Operations, allows him to link the technology dimension to business needs. Buendia holds a Masters in Industrial Engineering from the University of Comillas in Madrid. He is a founding member of the ISPE Spain, which he chaired 2007-2009, and a member of the international board of directors of the ISPE, Tampa, 2009-2011.
