Presentation: The Energy Revolution - Taking Advantage of the Inflection Point in Data and Information

The shale revolution currently evolving in North America and soon the world is reshaping the global energy equation. Coupled with the elements of advances in technology and industry forces, a perfect storm has created an opportunity inflection point not seen since the late 1970s with the introduction of computing in O&G. This inflection point provides the opportunity for O&G and petrochemical companies to revolutionize their approach to the use of data and information to deliver 21st century business value.

The PI System has also evolved over the last 30+ years from an enterprise “historian” into an enterprise integration and applications infrastructure, and with this evolution, the opportunity for companies to move from a tactical use of the PI System to using strategically by leveraging the PI System to accelerate the opportunities this new inflection point offers.

This presentation describes elements of the perfect storm and the resulting inflection point as an opportunity for using the PI System a strategic enterprise integration and application infrastructure. Key concepts will be presented and reinforced by use cases presented in at the UC2014 in San Francisco and OSIsoft Regional Seminars.
