Currently, the basic industries in EMEA are facing stringent environmental requirements and the need to reduce their operating costs. Energy and Water costs need to be reduced. As such, we will review several strategic implementations by several customers that will not be able to attend. These customers are drastically reducing energy, water and increasing their assets availability.
This presentation discusses the proposed computer architecture to collect all data and events from all local plants or plants within their industrial complex. We will present one PI AF template that can be reused many times from the raw materials plants, primary transformation plants, final products plants and all manufacturing services for the industrial complex or the enterprise.
Using three industrial case studies, the presentation shows how current customers are saving in excess of 15% of energy when the whole chain supply is managed with real time data and events.

Osvaldo Bascur
Osvaldo Bascur is OSIsoft’s Industry Principle in Metals & Mining and is actively involved in the optimization of mineral processing, extractive metallurgical and iron and steel processes for increasing asset availability, reducing energy, water consumption and minimizing environmental emissions. Bascur’s contributions have been in the design and implementation of a blue print for real time enterprise information systems to Improve Energy and Water Management integrating Power Generations and Consumption.
Bascur worked as a process control supervisor with Duval Corporation (now Freeport McMoRan), and worked ten years for Pennzoil Products Company (now Shell). Bascur holds BS degrees in chemical and metallurgical engineering from the University of Concepcion, Chile and a PhD specializing in optimization of metallurgical processes from the University of Utah.
