The Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII), in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE) was awarded to a broad coalition, headquartered in Los Angeles, California. The new consortium has already grown to over 200 partners from more than 30 states. The Institute includes five regional centers located in accedmimc settings and industry membership from industry, technology, and services partners all severing members from large and mid-size end use customers. Overall, the CESMII partners will bring more than $140 million in public-private investment from leading universities and manufacturers to develop smart technologies and systems for use in advanced manufacturing. Jim will outline the Institute’s past, current and future journey and describe his keys to success to building a robust growing network of partners.
CESMII is focused on the next generation Information Technology (IT) is about network-based data, unprecedented modeling capabilities, extensive mobility and IT clouds that go far beyond today’s infrastructure and software services. This explosion in expansively new systems of integrated devices, data and information, sets the stage for applications that provide unimaginable new insights and solutions, unprecedented opportunities, and relentless forces for changing how we make things. Manufacturing is an industry that is adopting these technologies to meet next generation expectations. It is how, how fast, and how well advanced sensing, control, platforms, modeling, security and data are applied that will impact the future of each individual manufacturer and the supply chain in which they participate.
