In 2007 EDP Produção began the SKIPPER project, which aims, from a platform based on the OSIsoft PI System and other data sources, to build a system that offers features to support management of energy production. Upon completing the project, these expectations were met, including direct provision of production data, in an environment of sharing best practices and technology as well as retention of knowledge. This presentation summarizes the applications of SKIPPER with special focus on the use of the OSIsoft PI System tools including PI AF.

JORGE NEVES is responsible for Otimização e Manutenção – SKIPPER at EDP Gestão da Produção, S.A in Lisbon, Portugal. In EDP for 30 years, he has worked in the area of Thermal Production in Information Technology and, from the outset, at SKIPPER. He has extensive experience with the OSIsoft PI System.
