Six Sigma in Metals and Mining Production
SPC (Statistical Process Control) is the most important tool for implementing Six Sigma in the production area. To achieve stability for the selected process variables, Votorantim Metais, one of the major Metals and Mining companies in Brazil, needed a system that would help in identifying and treating exceptions, as well as measuring how appropriate the adopted control strategy is. For this purpose, a set of ProcessBook displays with SQC control charts, statistical calculations and event annotations for the exception reports were the best choice for allowing the complete analysis of the production parameters in seven zinc, nickel, and steel Votorantim plants.
