Shell Production Portal Architecture
Shell EP has a solution architecture to solve challenging Exploration and Production (EP) business problems. The solution architecture is fully service oriented and integrates the Shell EP standard applications using PI AF 2.0. The solution can tap into PI data, and into the resources of the best-in-breed domain products such the SGSI Fieldware suite, Energy Components, LIMS, SPI, and SAP. The data is transformed into valuable information using PI AF, ACE and the MAGION mu-QA evaluator, thus forming the brains of the technology. The processed data is visualized via the Shell EP standardized MOSS (SharePoint) technology with RtWebParts. Transfer of data across the architectural layers is executed via web services. The design of the architecture supports a maintainable solution and quick roll-outs over different Shell Operating Units. Shell teams up with MAGION not only to utilize their mu-QA Evaluator but also to provide Shell with valuable integration knowledge for Shell EP applications currently under development using Shell production portal technology.
Examples of applications using Shell Production Portal technology:
- Metering Atlas - gives quality tagged metering data and provides valuable insight into the business critical metering processes
- Production board - presents the well and reservoir engineer with an intuitive production overview
- Well Surveillance and Event Detection - detects abnormal operational conditions of Oil and Gas wells in production
- Data Quality Monitor - continuously inspects tags and data of the PI System; reports failed data sets and incorrectly configured tags. Significance: Portal-based design supports access to the data required for solving challenging exploration and production business problems
