The adoption of the PI System within the Mining, Metals and Materials industry has seen steady growth over the past decade as companies try to leverage data as an asset for targeted performance improvements or the mitigation of specific risks. In more recent years, however, some of these same companies have also started to expand their PI System footprint in an effort to establish a comprehensive site or enterprise-wide data strategy that can support all of their established operational targets and related initiatives. This new vision of 'information as an infrastructure' is becoming recognized as a competitive differentiator within the industry. During this introductory session, OSIsoft will outline the 'infrastructure' vision, exemplify how the PI System can be adopted as a supporting strategy, and discuss the different customer approaches for success."
