SDG&E CBM - The New Frontier to Drive More Efficiencies from the Field and Assets with Live Q&A
Condition based maintenance (CBM) has the goal of performing maintenance on equipment based on the asset health rather than a set time cycle. The ability to assess equipment based on condition requires the equipment to have a monitoring system. These monitors provide enormous amounts of data, and this data needs to be readily available for analysis. With all the monitors set up and the data flowing through to San Diego Gas & Electric’s PI system, the asset management engineering team had to decide the most efficient way for their group to utilize in the information they were gathering. Through the assistance of OSIsoft, they used PI Vision to build out a dashboard for their CBM program that allows for any authorized employee at SDG&E to view the status of all the monitored equipment in a user-friendly setup.
