Retrofitting Aging Plants with Wireless Instrument at Nova Scotia Power
This presentation will review why Nova Scotia Power is currently investigating the use of wireless instruments to retrofit some asset classes that don't have primary instrumentation linked to the plant DCS.
Several different vendors and infrastructures are being reviewed with the intent being to build a menu of instruments suited to each asset class to be deployed in cookie cutter fashion.

Mike Greene
Mike has over 25 years of experience with Databases, Information Systems and Plant Automation. He is currently the Operational Technology Lead for the Asset Management Office of Nova Scotia Power, the utility for the province of Nova Scotia. He is responsible for the successful integration of NSPs many Operational information systems into a platform that provides end users with a dynamic asset based Operational Risk across the NSP Thermal fleet. He is also actively involved with piloting the user of wireless instruments at aging plants to retrofit many assets with online instrumentation. The Asset Management Office of NSP is an industry leader in its use of technology not only in the Utilities sector but in North American industry as a whole.
