They are leaders in the production of iron ore and nickel. Vale's Base metals division is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and produces nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum, and precious metals. The PI System has been the foundation of Process Information Management (PIMS) reporting for over 15 years, and Vale Base Metals has undertaken a program to refresh its PIMS architecture. The new architecture includes changes to servers, networking, analysis tools, and reporting. This presentation will include an overview of the program drivers, benefits, next steps, and future considerations."

Norman Doucet
Norm Doucet is a certified Electrical Engineering Technologist with over 20 years of experience in the technology sector in roles ranging from designer and PLC programmer through to IT Analyst and Subject Matter Expert. Norm’s career began at BESTECH Engineering where he was responsible for delivering electrical design, automation, and PI System solutions to his various clients. This led to a 3 year secondment to Vale (Formerly INCO) where Norm was the principle automation specialist programming autonomous underground Load Haul Dump vehicles. After joining Vale in 2003, he moved to the IT innovations department where he is the Vale Base Metals division PI System Product Owner and supports PI System related projects. His team determines how the OSIsoft PI System software can help Vale meet its strategic objectives with respect to real time data.
