This presentation describes how Timken bearings is using OSIsoft technologies and Industrial Evolution services to deliver a remote monitoring strategy for taper bearings installed for use with large capital equipment at their customer sites. The monitoring service starts with the collection and analysis of sub-second vibration data to identify abnormal behavior or specific data signatures. Analysis results and collected data from field locations are stored in a central PI Server at Industrial Evolution’s Data Center for web-based access by Timken experts remote from the bearing. Details of the sub-second data collection, analysis techniques and data centralization are provided, as is an overview of benefits generated.
