This presentation describes the results of a recent co-development project combining SAP and OSIsoft technologies in Alliander’s Grid Information & Control department. With SAP HANA in memory technology and OSIsoft PI System infrastructure, Alliander built a load forecast system for a mid-voltage grid structure. This solution processes the measurement of energy flows in near real-time. By gathering and analyzing ambient parameters such as weather, market prices and topology aspects, Alliander can create a six hour forecast for grid operators that supports decisions in rerouting energy flows in advance of overload.
