This paper discusses the implementation of a Real-Time system on the steam and power generation side of a major heavy oil extraction facility located in Northeastern Alberta, Canada. The tool consists of the PI System and an online Process Optimizer which is utilized by the process operators and management team to optimize plant operations and revenue. An overview of the project vision, rational and business drivers will be provided, a discussion of the technical solution and implementation plan, and the benefit assessment process. Will touch on the information portal for Real-Time (i.e. any one, any where, any time). A brief discussion of the web-based performance monitoring system will conclude the presentation.
