This presentation will review Entergy's Startup Monitoring Application, Transition Monitor, and how the application can be used to not only monitor the progress of a startup remotely, but also as a post-analysis tool to determine the problems within the startup and identify areas for improvement. The tool, which uses OSIsoft's PI Server, is used by plant operations personnel to improve startup consistency, protect plant equipment, and promote safe operation while reducing the startup time and the startup cost of our generating units. This system uses both real-time data as a monitoring tool for plant and other personnel to monitor the status of the startup at any time as well as historical analysis of the startups.
