Genesis Energy is a generation and retail company from New Zealand and for the last few years it has focused on becoming more proactive with data to enable data driven decisions. Genesis Energy is fortunate to have data scientists on the retail side of the business and they were engaged to start investigating machine learning potential with historical generation data contained in PI Historian. The investigations proved successful meaning the next step was to determine how the data could be extracted automatically into a data science environment. The PI Integrator fit this need and has enabled productionising of a machine learning app allowing the development of advanced predictive analytics. The machine learning app uses open source software and is combined with Microsoft Power BI to visualise the results. This presentation will talk about the journey into predictive analytics, what the Integrator allows us to achieve and other reporting benefits that have been enabled.
