PPL's TMS PI System was deployed in June 2003. At that time they had approximately 50 PI System users, with approximately half of the users from the Power System Operations group. Today we have over 180 PI System users, with an expected growth of 20% over the next 5 years. That growth has come predominately from such groups as Asset Management, Substation Engineering, Distribution Planning, Distribution Systems Operations, Substation Relay Test, and the Automated Meter Reading Customer Response Operations.
Over the years, PPL's customers have realized the value of and have become more reliant on the TMS PI System. It has become an integral tool used to address customer service complaints, determine equipment maintenance service schedules, determine annual budgets for system upgrades, and enhance the safety and reliability of our electrical network.
In this presentation PPL will review several use cases built on the PI System and explain a scenario of an exploding CCVT that changed the way PPL performs asset health and leverage the valuable data in the PI System."
