PI System as MES for BALCO
Aluminium coil being central product of BALCO in terms of production and revenue, we wanted to improve quality and reduce customer complaints on deviating coil parameters. In absence of real-time data on coil parameters, there was little control over quality of the coil. For Aluminium coil used for power transmission, Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS), Conductivity and Elongation are critical parameters from customer point of view. A slightest variation in these parameters can cause large rejections. So to address the issue, search for solution which will i] Give real-time process monitoring capabilities & ii] Facilitate backtracking of coil data led us to MES system with PI System at it’s base.
