PI on Ice - Diamond Data from Plant Floor to Board Room
Diavik Diamond Mine Inc. (DDMI) has treated systems development as an integral part of the construction project when it built Canada’s second diamond mine. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were defined to effectively manage operations when the mine went into production. The Production Information Management System (PIMS) allows KPIs to be measured, reported, and transferred to other systems in a reliable and convenient manner. PIMS provides a mechanism to collect real-time production data from the various control systems around the site and acts as a tool to "drill-down" and establish the important cause-effect relationships that impact the value of a KPI and is not only a data collection, storage and management environment but also an environment in which cause-effect relationships can be analyzed and statistically verified.
