PI on a Mini-PC – Remote Data Collection with Intelligence!
OSIsoft and Industrial Evolution have worked together to deploy a full PI System on a mini-PC for remote data collection. A mini-PC – the size of a few CD’s – loaded with PI and Windows 2000 collects real-time data directly from field measurement devices and PI-to-PI transfers the real-time data to a central PI System every minute. Details of the mini-PC deployment are given, including the use of either telephone or high-speed connection for the no-cost transfer of unlimited data across Virtual Private Network (VPN). Install costs and application of the mini-PC approach are presented, including ideas for use in your operation.
