Nalco monitors the corrosiveness of a customer’s process through the use of corrosion coupons, which are representative metal samples placed directly in the process streams. The measured corrosion rates are the result of process operations not only at the point in time when the measurement is taken, but the entire time range in which the coupon was exposed to the process flow. In the past there was no real clean and accurate way to represent this data in the PI System as the measurement is not indicative of a particular point in time, but rather for the entire time range. Now, with the advent of PI Event Frames, Nalco has a clean and precise way to capture this data and relate it to all of the process conditions that occurred during the coupon’s time in the system.
