PI has always been known to be an invaluable tool for fighting the battle of rising energy and raw material costs. Unfortunately, when costs saving measures include a lean workforce, PI users can get too busy to create the tools needed to find and achieve new cost saving opportunities. This was the case at Glatfelter. We needed something fun and encouraging to incite the motivated to go the extra mile. The incentive in the form of recognition, prizes, and fun was dubbed the “PI Baking Contest”. Our local OSIsoft reps provided prizes, on-site presentations, and webinars to add to the excitement. The result was multiple unique user-created projects aimed at making the job easier, improving product quality, tracking costs and saving money.
