How is the PI System used at a chemical company? In this presentation, we will give an overview of how the PI System infrastructure is used to manage the needs of a Solvay Chimica Italia factory located in Rosignano, Italy. Following a short description of the network scheme, we will show you how the PI System is used for: reporting, web monitoring, batch management, two-way DCS interfacing, LIMS, notifications, quality management, modeling, and analysis. Our fifteen year history with the PI System may be useful for others who are interested in learning more about the PI System and how they can implement a real-time data management infrastructure in their own organizations.
