OSIsoft at Ergon
Ergon Refining has used the OSIsoft PI System for almost 20 years and it has grown along with the company. The PI Systems has been designated a software system that is core to our business and as such has been kept current and has had several features added to the original package. The presentation will touch on the history of the PI System at Ergon, its growth and current configuration as well as how the PI System has contributed to Ergon's bottom line. Elwart will conclude with Ergon's future plans for the PI System and how it will continue to be a strategic partner with the company.
This is a high level, business oriented presentation that contains information for an engineer / department manager who wants to see how Ergon is utilizing the PI System and to get an understanding on how a PI System can contribute to the profitability of their own operation.

Steve Elwart
Steve Elwart has spent 40 years in the Oil Industry, covering the areas of Exploration & Production and Refining. During his career, Elwart has been responsible for crude oil selection and custody transfers, planning and economics & process engineering. He has spent most of his career working on industrial control systems.
Elwart is extensively involved in management roles with universities, state & federal government agencies and professional technical societies. He is also a past member of the advisory board for Emerson Process Management and Invensys Process Management. He worked for several years with the Departments of Homeland Security and Energy as a Subject Matter Expert on cyber security and Industrial Control Systems. Also, Elwart is the author of over 50 presentations and technical papers dealing with industrial control systems, international relations and cybersecurity. He has spoken on process control & cyber security issues at national laboratories, universities, and conferences across North America.
Elwart first purchased and installed a PI System in September 1995.
